*LOW-COST IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES*
The Berkshire Immigrant Center is a non-profit offering low-cost legal assistance and other support to those navigating the U.S. immigration system in Berkshire County and beyond. Our services include the following:
IMMIGRATION & LEGAL:
• Comprehensive screenings for pathways to legal immigration status
• Change of Address clinics to help newly-arrived immigrants update their address with ICE or immigration court
• Preparation of certain applications, including family petitions, DACA, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), citizenship, green card renewals, tourist visas, employment authorization, diversity visa lottery registration
• General information and referrals to outside organizations for other types of applications, including asylum, U visas for victims of crimes, VAWA for domestic violence victims, employment-based options, and inadmissibility waivers
• Once-monthly clinic for non-immigration legal consultations (divorce, custody, criminal, discrimination, etc.) with private attorney
• Know Your Rights information and advocacy
EDUCATION:
• Free English and civics classes, primarily for citizenship applicants
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
• Very limited financial assistance for rent and bills
TRANSLATION & INTERPRETATION
• Limited translation services for client documents and local nonprofits and businesses
CLOTHING & HOUSEHOLD
• Coordination with the Community Closet, where low-income immigrants can "shop" for free for clothing, toys, and household goods
